bracket

It’s been a busy year in 6th grade social studies, and our students have been working hard learning about world civilizations. They recently finished their first DBQ essay on the fall of the Roman Empire and are well on their way to becoming well-rounded historians!

In celebration of Women’s History Month, students participated in ‘Women’s History Month Madness’. Students spent time learning about important women in history and filled out a March Madness style bracket choosing who they thought was the most influential woman in history. Each day, we took time to learn more about the daily ‘matchup’, students voted for who they felt was more influential, and the winners were revealed and the brackets were updated accordingly.

Harriet Tubman was the winner of our Women’s History Month Madness Tournament. Students who chose her as the winner won a small prize, and a larger prize was offered for any student that had a perfect bracket. One student obtained a perfect bracket, and was treated to a lunch of their choice from Mrs. Mendez!
